Tips on Selecting The Perfect Condo or Apartment
If you’re looking for an apartment or condo and just want to check the feng shui of the one you’re living in now, then this article will be of interest to you.
Take a Look Around
Examine the surroundings around the building and choose one that has a clear entrance and a good foyer area where the chi can settle and accumulate before entering the building. Driveways leading to the apartment should curve rather than be straight and if there is a fountain or the presence of water in front of the entrance then this is most auspicious. Try not to choose an apartment built on top of a ridge or hillside as they are likely to get hit by the elements and lack support…and unfortunately those lovely penthouses built above a building do suffer from this same feng shui affliction.Check the Entrance
Entrance direction should correspond to one of your four good directions
Look for apartments and condos whose entrance direction corresponds to one of your four good directions – this refers to both the entrance into the actual building and also the entrance into your apartment unit. So your goal is to choose a building and a unit that has an affinity with your KUA number. This is quite easily done by using a good compass to check the facing and sitting direction of the apartment building.
If your KUA number is 1,3,4 or 9 you belong to the EAST group and the auspicious directions for the EAST group are East, Southeast, North and South. So if the building is facing or sitting any of these directions it is good for you. Remember to take your facing direction first and then the opposite of the facing is the sitting direction. Got it?
Now if your KUA number is 2,5,6,7 or 8 then you belong to the WEST group and your lucky directions are West, Northwest, Southwest and Northeast.
Apartments and Condos Above the 9th Floor
Apartments and condos above the 9th floor are generally regarded to be independent of the building and therefore in such apartments the direction of the largest picture window or balcony comes into play as this is the direction where chi enters. Therefore this direction should also correspond to one of your good directions. So the flying star chart that applies to an apartment above the ninth floor is usually based on the facing direction of the largest picture window or balcony.
Check For Entrance Door Afflictions
There are some feng shui afflictions that are hard to remedy so please keep the following in mind:
* There should not be a lift or elevator shaft opening directly opposite the door into your apartment as the chi coming from the elevator is deadly and killing.
* There should not be a staircase directly facing your door ( your apartment door or entrance into your unit should not be right at the top of a set of stairs).
* There should not be a toilet on the loor above the door entering your apartment.
* The entry to your apartment should not be at the end of a long corridor.
* The main door should not open to face a toilet – the remedy is to relocate the toilet door.
* Your entry should not open to face a narrow cramped space or corner – if this is the case then keep the area well lit or you can use a mirror as long as it does not directly reflect the main door.
* The door should not open to directly face a window either as this causes the chi to fly out instantly. If your apartment is afflicted in this manner use a drape or curtain to keep the window closed.
Do You Have A Balcony?
Balconies are lovely especially if they have a beautiful view… or face some distant mountains, a river or body of water and wide open spaces. Such windows should be kept open as much as possible to allow the chi to enter.
But if your view is not so nice and you feel “closed in” as you gaze at your neighbour’s balcony, then the chi energy is too cramped. Another danger to look out for is secret poison arrows that could be coming toward your unit so in this case it’s best to keep the curtains closed.
Well it’s a lot to think about when selecting an apartment or condo…but very important to your success, health and relationship luck so do take the time to consider the above points as you go apartment hunting!
“Like With Like”… A Secret Technique of Taoist Feng Shui
In Taoist Feng Shui one of the primary doctrines is the concept of matching “like with like” which refers to matching your personal chi with the chi of your immediate space and environment. How you interpret the results and how deep you go with it is up to you… as long as you follow your own developed intuition.
- Do Your Directions Match? Use this simple method to check the season of your birth and check the directions that will bring you luck.
The Taoists associate the EAST with spring, NORTH with winter, SOUTH with summer and WEST with autumn. So it’s believed if you move from your place of birth towards your seasonal birth direction you will have good fortune. So for example if you were born in the winter in Texas and you move to Nebraska you will be moving towards your birth direction which is north so the move will bring you good fortune.
- Do Your Days Match? For instance, if you were born on the 9th of any month then the number 9 is good for you – and if you were born on a Tuesday then everyTuesday is good for you. This is a very simple approach. It is an approach to numerology that focuses on the number we remember most easily and uses the inner feng shui consciousness to tap subconscious lucky numbers. Say you were born on the 9th day of any month then 99 is lucky for you. A house with the number 99 means that the house will be lucky for you, or 199 or 499 etc.
- Do Your Numbers Match?
Your numbers are based on your date of birth. According to Taoist feng shui you don’t need to change this to the lunar date since your inner chi identifies with your western birth date. So if you were born on the 22nd October 1974, then your numbers would be 22 10 1974. Any of these numbers appearing in your address, telephone number or car number would be in affinity with you. So a car with number 2210 is good food for you.
An address without any of your numbers is said to do nothing for you.
If you add up the numbers of your birth date, and reduce to a single digit number, you will obtain a number that is lucky for you. In this case 22 10 1974 adds up to (2+2+1+0+1+9+7+4) 26 and 2+6=8 so 8 is the number that brings you
like with like!
- Do Your Colours Match?
This is based on the season of your birth. If you were born in the spring your colour is green: in the summer it is red; in the winter it is black; and in the autumn it is white. During the “in-between” months it is yellow. When you wear your colours, it will bring you like with like good fortune.
Taoist also believe that wearing red or pink colours brings a lover or spouse, wearing yellow will enhance your wealth luck, wearing green will reduce stress and wearing white will help you recover from an illness (see the“Keeping in Sync” article this week on illness cures). This is a simplistic approach to feng shui but it works!
|Choose yellow to enhance wealth and red or pink for love
Remember…you can use a simplistic approach or you can make matching “like with like” as complicated as you wish…how you interpret it is all up to you!

|Floor Mat Wealth Tip
Money OK – Your Good Name is Not
Tape these under
Tape three Chinese prosperity coins energized with a red cord or ribbon under your floor mat. This suggests that you are “stepping on gold” each time you leave or enter the house or office. It’s and easy wealth enhancer for sure!
However, you should never ever place your name, company name or logo on the floor mat as this means you and others will be stepping on them. I am really appalled when I enter some high-end name brand shops and find I am stepping on their name as I enter. Please enhance your floor mat but never put your name or initials on it.
|Think In Images, Not Only In WordsYour mind is a powerful tool with infinite power. But your mind does not differentiate between positive and negative – it accepts your thoughts as they are generated. If things are not going well now, you must be able to look beyond your immediate circumstances to the future that will take shape for you in the coming years with a positive attitude. Imagine yourself in the future using clear images of prosperity. Thinking in images will expand and clarify your vision and your dreams.
